Position Summary: Welder – Fabricator (Permanent, Full-time)

We are on the lookout for seasoned welders who possess fitting and fabrication skills, with a preference for those who can read complex blueprints and have experience in high-quality structural fabrication. Successful candidates will become part of a dynamic team working collaboratively in a shop environment. Each member is supervised and guided by our on-site Foreman, ensuring cohesion and production excellence.

Core Responsibilities

As a key contributor within our team, you’ll be expected to:

  • Interpret Engineering Drawings: You should confidently read and understand fabrication schematics, blueprints, and welding symbols.

  • Fit and Fabricate Components: Use precision fitting techniques to prepare and align materials for welding (preferred but not mandatory).

  • Execute Welding Procedures: Perform various welding processes in accordance with CWB standards and project requirements.

  • Assemble Fabricated Items: Participate in post-weld assembly and inspection phases when needed.

  • Mentor Junior Team Members: Offer guidance and oversight to apprentice or less experienced welders, contributing to team development and knowledge sharing.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate the following:

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a professional industrial environment, particularly in the fabrication of structural steel components.

  • CWB Certifications (Mandatory): Active, valid tickets for GMAW (MIG) and FCAW/MCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding or Metal-Cored Arc Welding) processes, specifically in flat and horizontal positions.

  • Strong hands-on experience with shop tools and equipment, including overhead cranes, forklifts, and hydraulic lifting equipment.

  • Preferable prior exposure to an ISO 9001-certified facility, demonstrating familiarity with quality assurance practices and documentation.

  • Comfortable working with a variety of materials, including mild steel and stainless steel.

  • Additional credentials such as CWB Welding Supervisor certification or CWB Welding Inspector license are considered strong assets but are not required.

  • Bonus Competencies: SMAW (Stick), GTAW (TIG), and aluminum welding capabilities are welcome but not compulsory.

Personal Skills and Attributes

  • 2 years’ experience in fitting operations (preferably structural or architectural).

Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Open Canadian Work Permit (Required for international applicants)
